Run the mfg suggested air pressure in your tires and don't run over nails. The overinflation did not cause a nail to bite your tire nor did it cause the open flesh wound that will almost certainly force you to get a new tire.

I don't like Slime. Just hides problems. Best to just deal with them. In your case you are concerned because of your commuting route. I would look at a tire with Kevlar or that is heavy on flat resistance.

Bad Luck just happens sometimes. I have gotten two flats (one front then one back) within just a few miles. Then less than 5 miles later break a spoke. Don't have another flat for 8 months. Take Care and be careful at 3:00 in the morning. There are some crazy drivers out at that time. But not as many.
