mineral spirits didn't faze it. I have some dupont number 7 polishing compound, not as abrasive as regular rubbing compound and it took off the really fine stuff but not the bigger spots. Guess I'll try the regular rubbing compound nest. Not to worried to the untrained eye you can't even see it from a distance. I lowered the saddle about 2 inches and raised the stem up as far as allowed and also leveled out the bars and it rides really nice now and I bought a set of Wald rear baskets and installed them today. They are really cool, now the wife and I can go to the grocery together and get lots of stuff.
