I agree strongly with some of this: Many people seem to buy bikes to cruise around the block a few times, maybe now and then throughout the year. They want something new and attractive, and will appreciate a machine that simply runs without giving them (what they feel is) a lot of trouble. Probably, for plenty of folk, a hundred-dollar machine is OK. That said, even in that price-range, it looks as if there is variation in quality. I suppose anyone would prefer one of the better-quality models available.
