this pic shows how the studs are swaged with 4 crimps, I'm not sure if they are brazed as well, but the upper in this shot is intact, the lower is washed-out by the light, but it's the damaged one

Upon close inspection, the sleeve is NOT threaded, it's just a SS spacer...I'm unclear about how this is supposed to work with whatever kind of damage one might have, but tell me if you know, I'm all ears!
