The LBS had some of those Ergon handles, the GR2s with the mid-length extension. Nice, but man....$60! I'm broke till next payday. Took a 20 miler yesterday and now I can barely grip anything with my right hand - the thumb's particularly weak. I REALLY REALLY need to do something about this.

I'm thinking something like these bars turned upwards a bit and wrapped with a thick bar tape of some kind would work nicely http://www.performancebike.com/bikes..._400002_400213

Only question would be whether or not the SRAM shifters and Tektro (non)brakes would slide on far enough to work as designed or not - if so then I'd be golden.
