Bikes: Old Steelies I made, Old Cannondales

Hype. Ceramic bearings were developed for environments that steel could not handle well. So if you're riding in an acidic environment, pedaling at 5000 rpm, at 500+ degrees, then go for it. Properly adjusted, high quality steel bearings will spin silky smooth. It's often those darn seals that slow things down, not the bearings.
