For those that ride with their dress shoes on, what do you do to avoid this from happening?
Tuck 'em in every time. If it's hard to tuck in or makes an uncomfortable bulge when you do so, you might want to trim the laces a bit. Also, tie them just a touch looser than your normally do, this will greatly increase comfort when you tuck them it. If you tie a proper bow knot rather than granny knot, tucking them in is as simple as roll-tucking the left half of the bow to the left of your foot (under the show proper rather than under the laces) and the right right half to the right. This is, for me, way more comfortable and easier than stuffing the entire bow up under the laces (which is what a lot of people seem to do).

I actually leave them tucked in all day at work.
