I was looking for 7 speed bar -end shifters, and I noticed on Rivendell's site that they sell a Shimano 8sp set of barcons that they say in the write-up will work with "6, 7 , and 8 speed Cassettes".

Is the same true for shimano 8-speed Downtube shifters? ie: will they work witb a 7 speed cassette?
