Today's ride was interesting. I rolled along in the B group for a nice relaxing day and nearly ended up in a mortuary!
The first climb was a nice steady hit out at 90%+. No problems there, and first to the top for a change.

There were only 5 of us at the regroup when my coach rolled up and thundered at us to get going.
The bottom section of the second climb is basically fast undulations. By the time we hit the climb proper my HR was already at 95%!!! And then my coach eased up to my shoulder. I knew what was coming.

"What's you heartrate?" he asked. "187." "Good! Keep it there". There were still 2.5km to climb!
With 1km to go I was heading for hyperventilation. I forced myself into controlled breathing and I managed to get it settled down. "What's your heartrate?" "186." "Get it up to 187". With 200m to go he called for 190! Say goodbye to controlled breathing. By the time I reached the top I was hyper again. Thank god for the regroup. The worst part is he wouldn't have even blown out a candle, and he's not in top shape!!?!
Nice warm up for racing tomorrow I spose. Should have trouble pushing the clutch in/depressing the accelerator/moving at all after that. Any volunteers for driving duty?
