Maybe we should do away with the crime and penalties for firing a bullet from a gun into the air on New Year's Eve, since the intent and possibility of doing harm are about the same.
That person would be guilty of involuntary manslaughter and not murder. I think an involuntary manslaughter charge against the officer would be reasonable. That carries a smaller sentence than murder.
