True accidents, being an incident no one has any control over, are very rare. The vast majority of collisions, whether between vehicles or vehicle/pedestrian, are either caused by negligence, one or more people not paying attention to what they are doing; ignorance, one or more people not knowing what they are doing; or idiocy.
