Humorous crash report: 6-6-09
Winding uphill on very narrow country road with 4 foot brush covered bank topped by 4 foot barbed wire fence on the left. My friend Kyle and I are out of the saddle on the steep, here a crashing through brush sound to our left and turn our heads just in time to see two deer descending onto us after they had leaped the fence atop the bank. One deer grazed Kyle's front wheel as it landed. He of the superior bike handling skills stayed upright. The other deer landed, careened into my left forearm, handlebar and front wheel as it moved to my right. Went down hard on the left hip and elbow. Took a few seconds to realize nothing was broken on me, just lost some skin and gained some bruises. I'm lying there with Kyle standing over me as we both burst into hysterical laughter. Readjusted bars and stem, off we went. No significant damage to the bike. Had we been going faster or downhill, it might have been disastrous. In hindsight, seems hilarious to get run over by a deer.
