Jail my not serve a purpose, but I believe that driving a motor vehicle on public roads is a privilege that we grant far too lightly. I have never heard of a drivers license being taken away for life, and I wonder why not - there are certainly some people who should never be permitted behind the wheel of a car. I do believe that if someone is driving a motor vehicle without a license - that should be an offense punishable by jail time as a way of protecting society.
