In Texas a fella got 30 years in prison for stealing a candy bar (the prosecutor pointed out that it was a LARGE candy bar...and he had done it before). So, it may be okay to kill cyclists (even several cyclists) but don't be caught stealing candy bars.
Hmm, so killing two people and maiming a third with a car is a misdemeanor?

Did he know that he suffered from sleep apnea? If so for how long, what was he taking for his "cold?"

Council's attorney, Michael Rains, said he thinks Council would have been acquitted had the case gone to trial because he fell asleep at the wheel "without any warning. This came on all of a sudden."
Say's him/them, do they have any medical data to back their claim???

Council had been working 12-hour shifts and was four and a half hours into one when he drifted across the double-yellow line.
Hmm, might not his having been working 12-hour shifts have something to do with it???

How do make restitution for taking someone's life? It's not like stealing someone's TV, or stereo.

He should lose his badge and gun, and maybe his license as well.
