tube exploded from overinflation... where is the problem???
So i'm borrowing a friend's mid-80s Univega road bike for a week. He has not ridden it in a year. I moved the front tire and tube to the rear wheel (the bike is complete minus a rear tire and tube). After installing and inflating the (newly relocated) rear tire (Conti Ultra 2000) to 110psi (they are rated to 120psi according to its sidewall), the tube exploded along the outside, by the valve.
My question, if i get a new tube, is this likely to happen again?
Was it an issue with a possibly old tube?
Or could there be issues with the tire and/or rim (not sure what kind. only info i have is "Araya")?
And if so, will i again have a similar experience when trying to install a new tube?
Thanks.
