Ahhh, what a ride today!
I took one of my favorite little detours to kinda stretch the fun out a little longer, and my trusty old Paramount was doing it's usual job of transporting me from here to there in comfort and speed (hey, those are relative terms, you know!) Half way into my ride, and who should I meet but none other than the local A rider who had ridden with me on my first ride 15 months ago. He was at the end of his out and back route, so he turned, and joined up with me.....sorta! In the past, we have enjoyed rather liesurely rides together, but this time, he passed me! So, I spun up ol' Blue, and soon we were riding along side this rider and his mount. I was having to work pretty hard to keep up this time, and I noticed that my speed was about 2 mph higher than it normally would have been for this stretch of road! And, he showed no signs of letting up, so I did my best to keep up with him. Six miles later, as I was huffing and puffing and he was still breathing normally, he happened to mention that he was training for a bi-athalon!! No wonder we had kicked things up a notch or two!!
Still, it was a really great ride with one of the several A riders I respect and admire, so it was a great way to start the day! As I am writing this, I have been home for 2 hours, and the temp has cooled down to 104 degrees (No kidding, 104!) so you know this old man took it really easy on the way home, but it was another wonderful commute on my bike!
