Seriously, I think it's because some people have used a compressor either without a regulator or an improperly set regulator, which overinflated the tire to the point of failure.

I've written about this before on a previous thread about compressors, but I have actually blown up, as in exploded, a tire when using an industrial compressor that wasn't regulated. Scary stuff.
