I did the opposite. I got her number, started dating. I got a recumbent and let her try it out, and then I had to get her one, too. After riding together for a couple years, we got married.

Our 17th anniversary is coming up in July- we'll be starting out on TourBC just then.

There's a fair number of female 'bent riders in the Portland area- but that probably reflects that there's gazillions of cyclists of all types. The Easy Rider Recumbent Club magazine is put out by the mother & daughter team of Connie McAyeal and Laurie Smith. Coventry Cycles was recently bought by Marilyn Hayward, which may make it the only female-owned, recumbent-specializing bike shop in the U.S.
