Barely made it...

Woke up at 6:00 am to the sounds of long rolling thunder. Alarm doesn't go off until 6:15 am. Look outside to see a sea of grey clouds but still no rain. Roll over and wait for alarm (1st mistake). One dog is going crazy because of the storm, and he knows when they will be bad.

Out of shower and all packed up at 6:30 am. Sounds of thunder louder, longer and closer. Look outside and see a wall of black fast approaching from the West. Only have a 2 mile commute, decide to have a bowl of cereal with soy milk (mistake #2).

Hear what sounds like a ton of hammers falling onto steel roof. 6:40 am, about 5 minutes before I usually leave, but decide to try and outrun the beast. On bike and hauling a$^ to work. Have a rain jacket but only cargo pants. Torrential downpour but no lighting, although I do have "that feeling".

Pull onto ramp to front door, lock bike and when I look back, everything was black and it looked like complete darkness.... Walked into lobby and secretary looks at me like I am psychotic (or maybe the look was because it looked like I wet myself after chugging a 64 oz drink). Change into uniform and go to work. All my co-workers look at me like I just drank a bleach colata.....

Laugh at them and then see that I have 3 missed calls. Wife making sure I didn't get struck down by lightning....

For the commute home, it looks like hail!
