I'd say it depends on what you want. If you want classic or something interesting then go with C&V and upgrade it with the same amount of $.

If you want to buy and hop on and ride then get the bike you are looking at. It has the modern tech and can be upgraded if need be. You don't take the hit on depreciation like with a new bike.

Choose carefully and be patient though as many used deals come up that are much better than the price you listed but you have to be quick. I nearly got a Trek 1000 for $200 for my wife but was an hour too late.
