Your whole premise about riding a "nice" bike is wrong. As long as it's maintained and adjusted, that beater "POS" can ride just as nicely as any "nice" bike. But the advantage is that because you didn't pay thousands of dollars for it, you don't have to worry about it, and you can use your nice bike for your pleasure rides.

My point was that I find it kind of sad that people will go out and spend $$$ on a really nice, new, shiny bike and then find they have to get a POS off CL so their nice, new, shiny bike doesn't get ripped off. Why bother getting the $$$ bike if you can't ride it except on weekends? Just because you can say you have a $$$ bike? The diamonds I have, I *wear*. All the time
They don't do anything for me sitting in the jewelry box. If I have a bike that cost me $$$, you bet I'm going to ride it. All the time. I understand that not everyone feels this way, though.
Also, it's not a matter of how nicely you can get the beater bike to ride. It's the fact that a person would have to get the POS bike in the first place or have to make their nice bike look like crap otherwise some ******* will rip it off. I never said that a beater bike couldn't be a nice ride.
I guess this was pretty much a rant at the *******s that steal bikes. It's just not fair that you put so much love and time into something only to have somebody steal it. It makes me mad.
