A few months ago I bought a pair of road shoes at my LBS and the kid said they were $140 shoes but because I bought a couple of bikes there last year, yada, yada, he was going to mark them down 20% for me. So I paid something like $116 and went home with the shoes. Later that evening, I went online to see what the going rate was for that model of shoe. I wound up at the mfg. website, where the MSRP on those shoes was listed at $89.
I returned to the LBS the next day saying there must have been some mistake. I said I don't mind paying $90 for a $90 pair of shoes, but I don't think I should pay more than the MSRP for any product. They claimed it was a mixup and refunded me $26.
Nobody offered to knock 20% off the $90, however.
I don't think they'll be seeing me around there anymore.
That thar is some shady business practices. Can't believe some shops thinks they can get away with crap like that.
