Heyup commuters,
I'm fairly new to the forum (I posted an introduction if you are really bored) but this thread caught my eye because most of my milage is commuting to work. I don't own a car, and the nearest bus service is hopeless. The journey is about 8 miles each way and I ride all year round. It is never too cold for shorts, but gloves are essential in the winter.
I keep two (road) bikes, and would not be without either of them. Moreover, when mechanical trouble strikes* this usually means that I can still get to work and leave repairs until there is time to do them properly.
Todays ride? Very pleasent with a slight tailwind that got me to work in a shade over 27 minutes (18.5 mph average). Never used to worry about this until I discovered bike computers.... Much nicer than yesterday, when it pored with rain the whole way in. Still, you can only get so wet before it does not matter any more, and that only takes about 2 minutes.
Happy riding
*It often does
