I think you've hit the nail on the head.

That's what he's here for, to argue with and (in his own mind) prove superiority over other people.



There's no reason there, I've tried reasoning with him, it won't get you anywhere and arguing or insulting him back will just get you a 'clever' answer and put a smile on his face.

Unfortunately there are some very sorry, sad, damaged individuals who are much more at home being nasty on the internet (and patting themselves on the back for it) than trying to survive in the real world.

Try to have some sympathy for him.
