Keep in mind when you go against the stem that while the levers may fit just fine you have to leave clearance for the cables. Too close together and they may be jammed against each other. Mine are about 2" from the stem. Also in using them, consider hand position. You want them in a place where you can reach them from the flats without moving your hands. Too close into the stem there's no leverage (try riding with your hands at the stem and you'll see what I mean)
