Maybe this is an ignorant question, but why would bibs be significantly more comfortable than shorts?

Doesn't it likely have more to do with a difference in quality between the two brands? Bibs just have suspenders to hold them up and no string / pressure around the waist area... aren't those the only differences really?

I'm not saying one or the other is better, but just don't see how the difference can be mind-blowing.
