My commute is only 3.5 miles down the road, with no less than 6 traffic lights on the way. On the bike, it takes me 11 minutes. In the car, it takes me the exact same amount of time. I usually pull up to the first intersection, and briefly queue behind a car, the light turns green and then the car loses me. By the next traffic light, I pull up behind the same car, just in time for the light to change.
