When I took my new-to-me 1985 road bike into LBS the mechanic noticed right away the front brake pads were MTB pads and told me to switch them out for road bike pads, he said road bike pads work better on road bike rims than MTB pads.

I have noticed my road bike doesn't stop on a dime like my hybrid bike does, so this is normal for road bikes?
