The only application specific grease I know of is Chris King ringgear lube, FSA carbon paste, and various shock manufacturer grease for airshocks. Everything else just needs grease. I use Amsoil full syn because I have it. Its WAY stickier than white lithium. Lithium goes "wattery" faster than a marine or automotive grease. So if I were racing AND competive, I would probably put in white lithium into my hub/bb.

I have used many and can't really tell the difference between them. Phil, Park, Bullshot, Std White Lithium, Pedros, generic marine, Finnish Line, etc.... and they all worked about the same.
