It could simply be a user problem.

Sometimes (especially if you cross-chain) you will get FD (front derailleur) rub. A simple trim of the FD lever will fix it. You don't even need the trim click - any motion of the (engaged) lever will move the FD a little.

Ask your shop to show you how to trim your FD. And look up cross-chaining on Sheldon's site.
