new here!

Hi all, going to get back into riding after a 12 year lay off. When I was riding I was doing 100+ a week, riding 5 days a week. Then life got to busy and the riding stopped. Well I'm turning 51 next week and it's time to get back into some kind of training. Just started the training last month on a treadmill, and pulled my old mnt. bike out of cobwebs. Turns out my bike needs work, and I sold my road bike with plans of upgrading, but I never did. Right now I'm looking for a hybrid with the flat bars. and ride that for a year and then move back into road bikes. I've been looking at the trek 7.5 FX and the Sirrus elite. I was wondering what you all thing, since I've been out of the loop for a few years I've lost track of what is good and what is better.
My work hrs limit when I can ride. There is a paved bike trail behind where I work, and I was thinking of doing a lunch hr ride everyday. At home there are plenty of bike trails to choose from so I can do longer rides.
Thanks in advance
