Any road surfaces which would be too rough for my precious Michelin Pro's?
Nope...I rode Michelin Pro's today, with no problems at all.
There were a few rough places, but nothing too bad. The road surface climbing up from the south entrance had recently been repaved, and it was like butter. It would have made for an incredible descent, but we were headed north.
FWIW, a nice alternative ride, is to start at the south or north entrance, ride over to the other side, and back. That way, you get all the most beautiful high country, with respectful traffice, 2 long climbs, and 2 long descents. I think that's about 66 miles round trip, with facilities at either end, and water possibly available at campsites along the way.
