I spent just under $200 for a Tom Tom 360, cuz I had some work traveling to do and I've been in some recent situations dropping kids at friends houses at night in towns I'm not familiar with and got lost and wasted lots of time. this is also bonus season at work and I had a little extra cash to spend. so it wasn't an impulse purchase. I had put it off for quite some time, but the confluence of events led to the timing to be right - right now.
I started swimming in February and was pretty bad. I'm still pretty bad but I get through it on will-power I think - there's nothing graceful about me in the water. a few people have suggested a triathlon but honestly I don't want the pressure - not yet anyway. maybe next year. I have a colleague doing a "micro" so I bug him if he is doing his swimming. it's fun to talk about training. his wife is a long distance athlete - he just tries to keep up, not get hurt or drown.
