It is also easier for a country that is living off of the kindness of other countries to develop the attitude of living off of the kindness of others. Maybe they were not raised with stories like the grass hopper and the ants? We live in a culture of working to provide for yourself and the community. It is hard to give to others when they have no desire to work for themselves.

There is a general attitude in this country that when someone drops out of society of their own volition then we would be remiss if we forced our values on them by making them share in the fruits of our labors.

We consider people that tour as people that are prepared for that tour. If they aren’t prepared there is no reason to expect them to succeed. If a prepared person has a problem it is easy to consider giving that person assistance. If a unprepared person tosses caution to the wind and takes off and calls it a tour we often expect to see their bleached bones along Highway 10 between El Paso and Fort Hood. In the back of our mind it might be suggested it is a cleaning up of the Gene Pool. That of course isn’t the PC way of thinking.
