Don't get me wrong, I ALWAYS HAVE FUN AND ENJOY MY RIDES! I had to give up motorcycles 3 years ago, after riding for 40 years, and have been searching for something to replace it, and nothing worked. Then I lost 55 lbs and started riding again on my old mountain bike, and figured something was missing, so got a Felt road bike and couldn't believe how much fun I was having.

When I rode MX, I would get tired, but I always pushed myself to the next level, even if it was only slightly higher, because I wanted to be better. While riding now, I ride alone because I don't think I'm fast enough or can ride enough distance to ride with a group yet, so I enjoy my peaceful solo rides. But when I get tired cause I did too much the day(s) before, I look at my shoes and for some strange reason that gives me the extra UMPH! to keep going. I don't think about the beer or food, because that's the incentive to just ride home, which I don't want, I want to say "Dang it, I feel good! I'm gonna hang a right instead of a left and see where THIS road goes!" I always find the incentive, which is looking at my shoes, so just looking for other incentives to keep going, and this thread has definitely given me a lot.

Looks like I started an interesting thread!
