Depends on how much you want to ride. The views aren't bad but you can still get nice views from Astoria Park, Queensbridge Park and several other locations along the western Queens waterfront. Technically Roosevelt Island is part of Manhattan so if you're doing a mini Tour De Queens you might want to visit Gantry Plaza State Park instead.
