I'm no expert, but that stuff looks a bit like kujo (sp?) a wild growth that attacked and killed a lot of the greenery in Atlanta a few years back. I hope you didn't take any spores home with you, as they are likely to activate (as soon as the sun shines again) and eat you in your sleep.
