took to lbs, and the guy was absolutely certain that it was the BB. He removed, cleaned and regreased it... and to his dismay, the click did not go away. he was certain that it was not the pedal because they were spinning smooth as silk. after carefuly checking over the entire bike, he finally switched out the pedals, and WALA!!!

You've sure gotten some good advice here. I'd add: ease up with the hose as much as possible to avoid similar future problems. A quiet bike is a wonderful thing - and a necessity.
