I'm just back from a tour, sorry I didn't get my tupence in before.

If you don't want to be 'caught' or hassled when you are camping anywhere, you have to do what most posters say, arrive late, leave early and stay out of sight, well away from anyone or anything. My journals on stealth camping show how to stay in a city park, but I've also stayed overnight on undeveloped land right downtown in Toronto without any safety issues or fear of being hassled.

The bottom line here: Plan ahead, have the correct equipment and know what you are doing and above all follow the stealth camping rules:
  1. Only camp on unmarked, undeveloped, unfenced land
  2. avoid agricultural land
  3. camp well away from roads and trails-preferably in dense bush
  4. never let anyone see you go into or leave your site
  5. arrive late, leave early
  6. use Leave No Trace principles

Have fun!
