That makes sense. Hopefully, there wasn't a left turn signal where the driver could claim she had the green.

Every state imposes upon drivers an obligation to keep a proper lookout. Failure to do so exposes one to tickets and to liability for crashes caused by such failure. If the OP was within the speed limit and in the travel lane liability should not be an issue.
