Stupid Clicking from Crank/BB or Frame?

I've been having a problem with my Touring/Commuter that I ride daily. I first built it up this spring with a the appropriate shimano cartridge for the ultegra triple crank I had. It was the stupid splined octalink v2 spindle that I've grown to hate. Anyway, after a hundred miles or so it started to make a clicking sound.

I run spd pedals and have several pairs of shoes.

At first I thought it was the clips in the shoes so I changed them. Still clicked. Then I thought it was the pedals, so I swapped them. Still clicked. I swapped to a non clipped pedal because I thought the cleat was making the noise in the shoe.

That didnt work.

So I figured it might be the BB, so I swapped out the bb and crank to another square taper crank, 3 peice bb setup I had.

It was good for another few hundred miles.

Now it clicks again.

I've looked at the bb shell to make sure the frame isnt cracked or anything and I didnt see anything. but I guess I should take another look.

Anything else I should be looking at? I'm running out of ideas as to whats making the noise.

The only thing I can say is that the clicking does seem to get worse the more torque i put on the cranks - going up a hill or something like that.

WTH?
