Any chance of an "old hand" being here to give a "best guess", even?
which way shall I try to turn out the stator unit?
Even if you don't know for sure, your guesses will be a great morale-help.
And if I take mistaken advice, it is NOT your fault; we are feeling out something that seems
to have never been talked about on the 'net before now.
I must go to work and get the stator out this evening.

I will, at the least, make a short, concise docu-thread, "photo essay diss'y Shimano front hub dynamo",
for I will get it apart, or at least learn what NOT to do. It is servicable, for sure. But, this last, simple step remains a big question mark: which way to turn?
