now, i'm no expert on torts, but I can't think of any way that the damages in this case could add up to 1.5 million dollars. Now i know what the cop did was bad and all and he deserved to get fired, but how does this justify 1.5 mil in damages to the cyclist?

He must have a damn good lawyer if this got filed as a legit lawsuit.
