For the best deal at this time of year, definitely look around for closeouts on 2004 models (I've even seen some '03's around my LBS). You may be able to get a lot more gear-level for the price of entry level. I've been singing the praises of my Felt F65 ('04) that cost as much as the '05 F80, but has carbon front and back, Ultegra vs. Sora, and an overall lighter frame.
