For the record, an 1¼" brass "tailpiece" pipe makes a good crown race setter pipe. This is the chromed piece that connects a drain basket to the P-trap on a sink. The brass is soft so it can't hurt the race and the 1¼" inside diameter is a perfect size. They're usually threaded on the ends and you mash the threads whacking on it with your plastic or rubber mallet but that doesn't matter as long as you never want to use it for a plumbing job
