Lance created the problem by choosing Astana. In the TT Contador showed that he was the man to beat. LA gained time by astute riding and a combination of bad luck. Kudos to him. But he hasn't demonstrated that he's the top dog. Today, again Contador showed that he is the man to beat. Not just to Astana, but to everyone in the TdF. Is he supposed to not take time against anyone because he's got to wait for Lance to do something? That really doesn't make sense from Contador's point of view. He's riding in his home country. He's a natural climber. He's the odds on favorite. He felt good. I'm actually surprised that he didn't go after Evans first attack. Everyone in Spain would have been pissed if Contador just marked the other riders all the way up the mountain.
