To me asking for comfort in a road bike is like asking for comfort in a mid-engined Ferrari. If you have it all set up right, you should be able to make a normal road bike and a ferrari comfortable. But you aren't going to make the normal road bike ride like a beach cruiser, and you aren't going to make the Ferrari ride like a Mercedes. Its a trade-off though. If you want comfort and not plushness - get a properly fitting road bike. If you want plushness, get a hybrid or some other bike with fat tires and a big ol seat.
