Exactly. Most people here have seen that youtube vid pimping out the Madone. I assume every major manufacturer does this type of analysis. Is Pinarello just luxury for the sake of luxury?
But take a look what you would pay today for a Giant, with comparable wheels and Di2, which is over $13,000 if you can get one.

It's not orders of magnitude more expensive than a top of the line Giant, Trek, Cervelo, etc, built up with comparable wheels and components.

So there is not that huge of premium with the Pinarello. It's the cost of Di2 (which is highly likely to come down) and the cost of the wheels, along with a somewhat higher frameset cost, that is driving the price of the bike.
