With the Hed wheels, they argue that it is more aerodynamic because there is a smoother transition from tire to rim. Aside from that (and I don't buy into it personally) there's no reason I can see to put a 23mm tire on a 23mm rim. But hey, you're the one who wanted to do it because you don't like the "lightbulb" look.
