I've found while touring that if I split a day into pieces it is much more mahageable. Cut your days into thirds or something, so you ride thirty miles, stop for lunch and relax a bit for 30 minutes or an hour, then another 30 before a coffee and a quick bite, then finish out your day. I just finished a coast tour, and the best thing I could do on the long days with lots of climbing in Northern California was drink a lot of fluids, usually 2 or 3 nalgine bottles of water and plenty of beer, and get some rest at night. Also, stretch before you go to bed.

Best advice yet!!
